Wood Fired Cooking

At Pizza On Earth all of our pizzas are cooked in a traditional brick oven.  By maintaining a large flame and bed of coals the dome-shaped oven heats to temperatures in excess of 700 degrees Fahrenheit leaving the oven cavity and brick floor completely filled with heat.  Pizzas are cooked directly on the brick floor for about two minutes, and come out with a deliciously crisp yet tender crust.  The wood fire imparts a rustic smokiness to each pizza that enhances the flavour of the toppings you have chosen.

The Oven

Based on designs uncovered from the ashes of ancient Pompeii, the oven was built by Brad Johnson and founder, Sarah Jane Gibbs.  Its name, appropriately, is Vesuvius.
